Stay a Little Longer

We notice moments of joy—but rarely stay. A gentle reflection on slowing down and learning to remain.

We notice… sometimes.

A moment of quiet.
A flicker of joy.
A sense that something here matters.

The light feels softer.
The world slows, just a little.
And for a moment, we are fully here.

And then…

we move on.

We reach for something.
Check something.
Think about what’s next.

Not because the moment ended—
but because we did.

There is something in us
that struggles to stay.

Even in the presence of something good.

Perhaps we are not used to it.

The stillness.
The simplicity.
The quiet fullness of a moment
that asks nothing from us.

Or perhaps
we have learned to keep moving.

To measure our days
by what is done,
what is completed,
what is achieved.

And so when we encounter a moment
that offers nothing to accomplish—

we don’t quite know what to do with it.

So we leave.

Not intentionally.
Not even consciously.

Just… habit.

But what if nothing is missing?

What if the moment you are in
is already enough?

What if you didn’t have to move on
so quickly?

What if you stayed?

Stayed a breath longer.
Stayed with the light.
Stayed with the quiet.
Stayed with the presence of God
that does not rush you.

You might find
that what you were looking for
is not ahead of you—

but already here.

Waiting, patiently,
for you to remain.

Where might you stay
a little longer today?

Continue the journey….
