It is possible to slow your life
and still feel rushed inside.
The calendar may quiet.
The noise may lessen.
And yet, beneath it all,
something continues to hurry.
Thoughts move quickly.
Expectations press in.
A subtle urgency remains—
to respond, to decide, to move ahead.
And even in stillness,
the soul feels unsettled.
The Pace Within
We often think of pace
as something external.
How full our days are.
How quickly we move from one thing to the next.
But there is another pace—
quieter, less visible,
and often more powerful.
The pace of our inner world.
“Be still, and know that I am God.” (Psalm 46:10)
This stillness is not only about stopping what we are doing.
It is about softening what is happening within.
When the Soul Is in a Hurry
An inner hurry can sound like:
I should be further along.
I need to figure this out.
I don’t have time to slow down.
It is not always loud.
Sometimes it feels like responsibility,
or even diligence.
But underneath, there is a tightening—
a quiet pressure
to keep moving.
And it is this pressure
that makes it difficult to rest with God.
A Different Way of Being
God is not hurried.
He is not anxious about time.
He is not rushing you toward completion.
God moves with purpose,
but never with strain.
“The Lord is good to those whose hope is in Him,
to the one who seeks Him;
it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.” (Lamentations 3:25–26)
There is a way of living
that reflects His pace.
Unforced.
Attentive.
At rest, even while moving.
Gently Slowing Within
Slowing your inner world
does not require you to change everything around you.
It begins more simply.
Noticing when you feel rushed inside.
Pausing before you respond.
Letting one moment be enough.
You might place a quiet prayer into the space:
There is time, Lord.
I will move with You.
And then… just continue.
No striving to get it perfect.
No pressure to stay in that place.
Just a small softening.
Let It Be Enough
You do not need to force yourself into stillness.
You can allow it to grow—
little by little,
moment by moment.
Even a slight slowing
creates space.
And in that space,
you may begin to notice
that God was never in a hurry to begin with.

when your thoughts begin to rush.
Instead of following them,
pause—just briefly.
Take one slow breath.
Let your shoulders soften.
And continue gently.
